superintendent intro

5/17/2026 Press Release:

Friday, May 15, 2026, the LQPV School Board conducted interviews with four (4) candidates for the position of LQPV Superintendent of Schools. Those four candidates were chosen from a field of sixteen total applicants for the position. Interviews were scheduled throughout the day and included a 90-minute tour of all school facilities.

Following the interviews and school board discussion about each candidate, board member Shannon Boehnke made a motion that was seconded by board member Matt Carmody and unanimously approved by a roll call vote of all five board members in attendance to offer the position to Corinna Erickson.

Mrs. Erickson formally accepted the position Friday evening pending final contract negotiations. Corinna Erickson will officially begin work as Superintendent of Schools July 1, 2026. She will replace Superintendent Scott Lempka who has accepted the Superintendent of Schools position in the Minnewaska School District after serving at LQPV for the last two years.

When asked about her thoughts on this new venture, Erickson stated, “I am extremely excited and thankful for the opportunity to join Lac Qui Parle Valley School District. Thank you to the School Board, staff, students, and community for the warm hospitality and support throughout the process. I enjoyed visiting with everyone and learning about the communities and the school district. The support the community has provided the school district through the years is obvious when touring the facilities and grounds. I was impressed by the closeness of the community and friendliness of the staff I met.

Lac Qui Parle has done some exciting work in recent years including great strides in the area of literacy and in the development of its English-Language learner programs. I look forward to joining the Eagle family, building strong relationships, and working together to support students, staff, and the community as we continue to “Soar as One.” LQPV School Board Chairman, Cory Thorsland shared “Corinna has developed a rich background and reputation as an educator and leader of rural school districts. She will be a phenomenal communicator with our communities, our staff and our students. She has great interest and respect for developing relationships and helping our school district continue to thrive. We are excited to have her join our LQPV team.”

Originally a graduate of Comfrey High School in Comfrey, Minnesota, Erickson earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Minnesota State University-Moorhead, a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Southwest State University-Marshall, an Education Specialist Degree from Minnesota State-Mankato and Superintendent Licensure from Minnesota State University-Moorhead.
Previously, she served for 14 years as a Teacher/Dean of Students in Wabasso Schools, for 1 year as Pre-K-6 Principal at Hills-Beaver Creek Schools, and for the last 13 years as a Pre-K-12th grade Principal in Breckenridge Public Schools in Breckenridge, Minnesota.

Corinna and her husband, Tom, have two adult children and plan to move into the area.
