Then Online training in the areas of Autism Spectrum Disorders and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders offered by the University of Minnesota Duluth Continuing Education department is right for you!

 

The first 4 credit course in each series begins this summer!   (June 6th).

 

This training is a must for Educators, Counselors, Health Care Professionals, and others who work with children or youth with Autism or Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. 

 

Take the first class as a stand-alone course or complete all three and earn the certificate.

 Nurturing Nature Workshop: Environmental Sustainability for Teachers and Parents of young children.
An invitation to teachers, daycare providers, and parents!

Enjoy a day learning fun ideas and hands-on activities that will help you to shape a child’s experience with the environment! This workshop is based on the Project Learning Tree program. Participants will have an opportunity to purchase the state and national early childhood curriculum.

9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
$89 per person (morning and afternoon refreshments provided)
Bagley classroom, UMD Bagley Nature Center

* Teachers can earn 7.5 clock hours towards re-licensure in the area of science.

* All participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from the University of Minnesota Duluth - Continuing Education.

Register early to insure your place in the workshop! Use the attached registration form to register. You can mail, fax, or drop off the registration form once completed.

During this exciting day of activity, be prepared to spend time outdoors at UMD’s beautiful Bagley Nature Center. Bring along a bag lunch and enjoy a “picnic” by the pond or inside the Bagley classroom overlooking a nature setting.

Literacy in the Content Area :This online course is designed to help instructors examine instructional and curricular issues surrounding literacy across the curriculum.  Participants will look at ways to integrate literacy instruction into their content areas to promote reading achievement in content subjects.  The focus of this course is to use reading as an instructional tool as well as to improve literacy across the content areas.  The areas specifically addressed in this course will be vocabulary building, reading strategies, accommodations and modifications, technology, and embedding reading curriculum into content area subjects. 
 
This course is designed to meet requirements related to reading preparation, accommodations and modification of instruction, technology, and reflective practice renewal credits for teacher licensing as outlined by the Minnesota Department of Education.   Participants may opt to take only the reading preparation and accommodations and modifications parts of the course for license requirements CEUS at a cost of $20.  If you wish to take the course for graduate credit, the fee is $190.

Southeast Service Cooperative is pleased to offer a two-day Formative Assessment Workshop with nationally-renowned educational speaker, Chris Jakicic, on Monday, June 11 and Tuesday, June 12 from 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM each day. Dr. Jakicic recently released a new book (with a foreword by Rick and Becky DuFour) entitled Common Formative Assessments: A Toolkit for Professional Learning Communities at Work.

Teaching Outside the Box: An Introduction to Integrating Environmental and Outdoor Education in Grades K-12

Designed for school teachers and administrators from any content area that are NEW to integrating environmental and outdoor education into formal classrooms and delivered by experts from MDE and our many partners, these workshops will provide an overview of the benefits to environmental and outdoor education, how it can be integrated into multiple content areas and achieve academic standards, tips and skills to take kids outside, hands-on training on quality programs, and resources and community partners to further support school efforts in this area. Minnesota Native American Voice Symposiums

July 24-25, 2012 or August 14-14, 2012

Southeast Service Cooperative is pleased to offer the Minnesota Native American Voices Symposium twice this summer.  Participants will learn how to evaluate texts and help students recognize myths in text and multimedia sources.  This symposium is geared towards all K-12 teachers and administrators - CEUs will be available.   Register at the Southeast Service Cooperative website.
